I am back with more Updates, but not many

It’s been a little while, I know, but the break was needed after 90 straight days of blogging and vlogging!

By John Irvin

It’s already been over two weeks since the last episode of my 90-Day Author’s Assault. Time really flies. What have I been doing since then?

Oh, you know, living the dream. Struggling with finances like we all seem to be doing after last year, finding clients for my proofreading business, contemplating new goals and plans for this year and the next several years, and getting more reading and writing done!

Yes, I’ve been busy.

At the beginning of this year, Goodreads (an awesome site for avid readers to keep track of their book reading and share with friends and inspire each other to read) informed me that I read 31 books in the year of 2020.

I decided I wanted to basically double that number for this year. I’ve set my goal at 60. This means I have to literally read five books per month. So far, I’ve read eight books and I’ll be completing two more within the coming week.

I’m excited. I’ve been knocking my To-Be-Read pile down in number with this goal-setting, so that feels like an accomplishment.

I want to make sure to recommend one of the books on my reading list this month. Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry. This book will wake you up to the seriousness of our generation’s financial aspirations.

I’m definitely going to be applying these principles that he’s already covered…AND I’m not even halfway finished with the book.

Let me stop here and share the YouTube episode that coincides with this blog over on my channel.

Make sure you click through to watch and I’d appreciate it if you liked the video and subscribed to my channel.

Now, with the writing, I’ve returned to the world of my Longevity series. It’s been grand reuniting with Ihon Iraes (pronounced Ian Eraze) and his friends and loved ones. We’ve made it to Chapter 16 as of this morning and there will be 20 chapters in the book. This means we’re almost finished with the first draft.

Next will be the first draft for Book 5, Treason, and I’m anticipating that one. The next one after that, my brain is already formulating a plot idea and it’s kinda got a Beauty and the Beast theme to it. Shhhh don’t tell my Beauty and the Beast novel that I’m still planning to write later this year! It might get jealous.

Can I help it if having a character that can shape shift into a Wolf-Born being sort of has such a theme?

Anyways, besides that, my proofreading business has been going well and I’ve been privileged to connect with some fantastic and interesting people in our field of writing/editing/publishing. I’m really enjoying the work there!

If you watch the episode, you’ll see at the end that I’ve decided to move my posting from Thursdays to Saturdays. It just works out better with my schedule now. I hope that doesn’t bother anyone!

Just a note, I have an author team helping me prepare for my debut Spring 2021 Toward the Pacific Book Tour. We greatly desire your support to help us take books out of that good ole comfort zone and find more readers.

The more you are able to donate, the more possible it is for me to take my books on a trip across the continent and grow our reading tribe while promoting books for the public!
