          I decided to try it out.

          Dark with a hair-raising plot, I found Caraval to be a very intriguing story and would recommend it to anyone considering checking it out.

          A unique and thrilling adventure: The Skin Map by Stephen Lawhead.  

          Lawhead had me falling in love with the characters in this series. I started The Skin Map not knowing what to expect. What I got was an awesome adventure.

          Taking me on a trip to so many different times and events, the characters stumble upon one clue after another that points them to a mystery of the universe.

          Or should I say multi-verse?

          Either way, Lawhead actually became a big influence on my own writing after I read this book.

A simple cripple gains special powers and flips the world upside down.

          Today’s spotlight: The Highwayman by R. A. Salvatore.  

          I saw this book at my favorite bookstore and the cover made me think of Princess Bride. The way the masked man looked like Dread Pirate Roberts made me think it was really cool.

          Then I bought the book and became a fan.

          I love the world of Corona and R. A. Salvatore is a master of driving a plot along and keeping the reader flipping pages.

          I enjoyed exploring the Holdings in this world. Pryd is where the story is set and it’s troubled by powrie dwarves and various kingdom and religious conflicts.

          Bransen Garibond is the son of an adulteress sentenced to death by the Samhaists—a brutal religious order. She’s rescued and healed.

          But, the poison from the snake bite—a part of her attempted execution—has crippled the unborn child.

          He is raised by the Abellican Monks and is introduced to soul stones which help him take control of his body and he becomes the Highwayman.

Bransen Garibond is a hero. Treated cruelly by the Brothers of Abelle, except for one of them, he is forced to learn how to fend for himself and takes on a vendetta against those who bully others.

He becomes a defender of the realm and his legend is widely spread. In fact, he plays a part in the upcoming war for Pryd!

          Today’s spotlight is an old favorite: Relentless by Robin Parrish.  

          Funny how sometimes you just randomly meet a book and before you know it, you’re best friends.

          That’s right, I said book, not person.

          I was hanging with a friend one day back in college and we stopped by a small dollar store. I saw this book on the shelf, the friend had read it before and recommended I try it.

          So I bought it and started reading that night. I couldn’t put the crazy thing down it was so good.

          You might say, it was relentlessly grasping my attention.

          I was finished with it in a couple days, reading in between classes and homework. I immediately bought the second and had that finished shortly thereafter. The third one hadn’t been released and that was hard.

         A friend heard about my love for this series and he pre-ordered the third book as a gift for me.

Grant Burrows is your average Joe. He hasn’t had an interesting life up until this moment. He’s been Shifted. Someone else is now wearing his face and living his life, he’s someone else.

Oh, and he also has powers. He can affect things around him just by thinking about them.
