Testing, 1, 2, 3…

By John Irvin

If you’ve checked the post I made on my Patreon page, you’ll know that I’ve done a little rearranging. Yes, instead of Thursdays for my blog and vlog, I’m moving to Saturdays. And the same goes for my Friday Broadcasts, they’ll be moved to Saturdays as well.

I may be shooting myself in the feet here, but we’ll see how this goes.

            Speaking of which…

And back to my present WIP for my Patreon subscribers, The Ikkilion Chronicles. I have only the Finale left to publish. It was due this week, but I don’t want it to feel rushed. People have told me in the past, they can tell when my writing is rushed. So, I’m postponing to next Saturday (18 September).

Just a reminder about the premise for the techno-fantasy serial my sponsors get to enjoy:

The story begins with a man and wife who are both amateur mages. They’re summoned by a usurper, the Witch Queen, who demands the location of what she calls the All-Stone. They have no idea what she’s talking about. So, like all good tyrants, she throws them in her dungeon. They escape and a long chase comes about that takes these two across several kingdoms.

The Ikkilion Chronicles is Patreon-exclusive, which means, it will not be published anywhere else. The only way you can read it is to subscribe as a one-dollar-a-month patron. There will also be extra goodies in the near future too. So, don’t miss out.

Before I continue, here’s the link to my Patreon, so you can join in the world:

Now, on to this week’s spotlight of my own published books.

The complete collection of my Shattered series is in PRINT! It has been for over a year now. The end of the old North American nations is turning out a little differently than I imagined, but still.

New nations form after the global blackout caused by a natural EMP in the atmosphere. But can these new nations survive? Can they even thrive possibly? With some people still wanting to resurrect the old regimes, will these new nations be launched into a North American War and can they win?

If you’ve been keeping up with my author journey, you’ll know that I’m also running a YouTube channel. I may not post EVERY week, but I do try to post often. They usually run about two to three minutes long just giving updates or promoting one of my books or a book I’ve been reading.

And for your viewing pleasure, here’s the video for today’s episode:

There are more Worlds than You know!

I want to talk about two totally different worlds today and I hope you enjoy and tag along.

By John Irvin

Okay, where did this week go? I feel like I just sent out my Friday Author Broadcast yesterday, but no, that was six days ago and I’m already due for another one tomorrow.

But for today, I’m going to bring up two of my most prominent worlds I’ve published and shared with this world you and I live in.

Magic’s Time Split is my biggest series so far and, if you’ve been reading my posts, you’ll know the first book is permanently FREE. All you have to do is pull it up on Amazon—or go to the page on my website menu—and download it into your Kindle app on your phone or iPad or whatever. It’s also permanently FREE on Nook for you Barnes&Noble lovers!

There’s a group of families who want to start a settlement and forget the corruption of the present day. Their leaders manage to find a means of time travel and they arrive at Hidden Lake, Montana Territory, in the year 1815.

But, unbeknownst to the rest of the travelers, two of the leaders have ulterior motives. It seems, there’s an ancient Egyptian idol tucked away inside Hidden Lake. An idol of the god Thoth, the creator of Magic. This idol supposedly encases Magic itself.

What happens with a crystalline idol imbued with all Magic shatters into a thousand shards?

Why don’t you download the book and find out? Also, there’s a Call to Action in the first book, if you sign up for my Author Broadcast, you get Book 2: When Kingdoms Arise for FREE too!

And back to my present WIP for my Patreon subscribers, The Ikkilion Chronicles. I’ve got two more episodes to write and I’m so happy to announce the completion of the serial.

Why Wouldn’t You Grab a Free Book?

Yes, this Ebook is Permanently Free, so, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t snatch it up. Doesn’t matter if you can’t read it now, you’d always have it downloaded and ready whenever you can make time.

By John Irvin

I’ve come to find there are two main series that I like to talk about when focused on my own published books.

Longevity is one series—though it is not yet complete. I’ve recently finished the fourth book’s first draft. After that, there are still four more books to go before that wonderful dark fantasy serial is finished.

The second series—the one in today’s limelight—is the Magic’s Time Split series. This serial is only in ebook format, unlike the previous series which is and will be in Hardcover, Paperback, and Ebook. But that doesn’t take away any of my second main serial’s illustriousness.

I enjoyed writing this ten-book collection as much as I’m enjoying writing the other one. You could say it has hints of dark fantasy, but it’s also an alternate timeline type of fiction and even starts with a good little time travel jump.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog and YouTube vlog, you would probably know that this serial is about a group of settlers who head back in time to the year 1815 and the place known as Hidden Lake in the Montana territory (which wasn’t even under US governance at the time and thus was not called by that name).

By the way, speaking of YouTube, here’s the video for today’s episode:

Anyways, back to the story, these travellers discover there’s an ulterior motive in the minds of two of the five leaders. This secret plot costs greatly, but also unleashes Magic on the world. This supernatural act kills Technology and starts a whole new timeline.

A timeline where Magic rules and Technology never advances.

But why would anyone want to do that? What would their ultimate reason be for such a gross act? Is it simply the powers they are endowed with by the shattered Egyptian idol of Thoth, the god of Magic and writing? Or is there something else?

The only way you’d be able to discover the why is to read the books.

But, guess what, this serial is special. How? I’ve set the first book to be Permanently FREE! Yes, you read that right. I know I’ve brought this up before, but I want to tell you again.

I published these ten books on Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook. Nook allowed me to set it at $0.00 without my having to contact them. I then wrote Amazon and informed them they better match the price. They did. And now you can simply download your copy and try it out for free. You get to meet a gang of friends I made along the way and find out more goodies inside!

A House Made of Bone?

The first book left you at a cliffhanger, you know I had to grab the second book and you will too!

By John Irvin

It is interesting how sometimes you don’t feel interested in starting a book series, but you read the first book and you’re hooked.

That was me when it came to the Bright Empire series by Stephen Lawhead.

I’ve already covered the first book in this mystical series almost three weeks ago. You can scroll down my 90-Day Author’s Assault playlist if you want to watch it.

This is the second installment. Let’s just say, the moment I finished the first book, The Skin Map, I had to order the sequel.

Intrigued by what was to come next and wondering how Kit was going to get home, I had to lay claim to this fantastic adventure.

          And you should too:

THE BONE HOUSE BY STEPHEN LAWHEAD.

This is taken from Amazon’s description:

“ONE PIECE OF THE SKIN MAP HAS BEEN FOUND. NOW THE RACE TO UNRAVEL THE FUTURE OF THE FUTURE TURNS DEADLY.

An avenue of Egyptian sphinxes, an Etruscan tufa tomb, a Bohemian coffee shop, and a Stone Age landscape where universes collide …

Kit Livingstone met his great grandfather Cosimo in a rainy alley in London where he discovered the reality of alternate realities. Now he’s on the run – and on a quest, trying to understand the impossible mission he inherited from Cosimo: to restore a map that charts the hidden dimensions of the multiverse while staying one step ahead of the savage Burley Men. The key is the Skin Map – but where it leads and what it means, Kit has no idea. The pieces have been scattered throughout this universe and beyond. Mina, from her outpost in seventeenth-century Prague, is quickly gaining both the experience and the means to succeed in the quest. Yet so are those with evil intent, who from the shadows are manipulating great minds of history for their own malign purposes. Across time and space, through manifest and hidden worlds, those who know how to use ley lines to travel through astral planes have left their own world behind in this, the second quest: to unlock the mystery of The Bone House.”

So, whatever you do today, make sure you grab this book: THE BONE HOUSE!

A Lost Soul is Found, can He be Saved?

In the Realm of Irkalla, a sort of in-between place for lost souls, the Immortals head to save their friend.

By John Irvin

Today’s trailer can be found through this link to my YouTube channel! Click through to watch the short little reel.

This last installment in this Magic-ruled, alternate timeline, historical fantasy, Falling Star’s Rebirth brings us to the edge of a cataclysmic war between the Ancient gods and the rest of the Earth tribes.

Having lost someone very dear to their hearts, the Immortals must force the surviving Ancients to take them to this lost realm.

It was known to the ancient Etruscans as Irkalla. It’s a dimension where souls, who are lost and not necessarily supposed to have died, wander. It also depends on their perspective whether this place is a Paradise of Hell.

Can the Immortals find Irkalla? Can they rescue their friend?

There are several questions this finale will answer as we tie up this ten-book series.

If you’ve been collecting them, I hope you’ve enjoyed them and find this finale satisfying. I hope it is a bittersweet farewell for you as it was for me.

If you haven’t started reading this series, why haven’t you?

Find its series page in the menu above and download the first book for free then sign up for the second book’s free download, then order all the rest, they’re really affordable.

Thanks for sticking with me through this series, tomorrow I’ve got another trailer and blog ready for you and it’s back to a previous world we’ve visited already.

Keep checking in for all the goodies!

In a couple more episodes, I’ll be taking a pause to glance back at what we’ve already covered then what we have approaching!

Make sure you click through this link to order your ebook copy of Magic’s Time Split, Book 10: Falling Star’s Rebirth!

It’s published both on Kindle and Nook, so whether you have a Nook or a Kindle, doesn’t matter—you can enjoy this series.

How Did I Become an Author Entrepreneur—Authorpreneur?

Find Your Passion and Figure out How to Make Money from It

By John Irvin

When I graduated high school, I thought I was off to college to complete a Pre-Medicine degree. Then it would be off to Medical School after that and finally a three or four year Residency, etc. etc.

After writing somewhere around 10 or 15 books in High School, I figured my writing was over for the rest of my life. Because who has time for writing books when the real life is where it’s at? A “real” job is what we’re supposed to do. Right?

Funny how life throws you curves and next thing you know, you’ve graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Humanities and you’re thinking, Well, maybe I could take the class and obtain a Medical Assistant’s Certification?

            Wrong again.

I lived with one of my brother’s in Kentucky for the year following my college graduation. I worked a warehouse job dragging in 40 to 50 hours of overtime—sometimes more—per week. I was making good paychecks, but I had no life. I somehow managed to write one book though.

I decided I had enough in 2014 and moved back to Pensacola, Florida. I worked an Emergency Room Patient Access job as well as pizza delivery for the next couple years, before one friend asked me this question.

“Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

I did some soul searching, found some books. By then I knew I wanted to write, but could I really make a living off of my writing? Thankfully, there are more and more books out there on that very subject.

            The answer, yes, you can.

I quit my full-time job in December of 2016, just a few days before Christmas.

It has taken trial and error and more trials—tons of reading and researching how to make a website, how to self-publish books, how to write better, how to keep motivated, how to be an Authorpreneur.

I have to throw in Business for Authors by Joanna Penn is one of my top go-to books. She’s an Authorpreneur with more experience than me. She’s also one of the many examples that you CAN make a living off of writing books.

Business for Authors by Joanna Penn

I’m reading more and more about how to run this business of mine and I’m slowly seeing promise and potential.

I haven’t reached my goal yet, but all great things take time.

You need to find out what your passion is and figure out how to make money doing it. Life is too short to work a job you hate. Life isn’t about working 9-5, go home, binge Netflix and pay bills, then repeat every day, except maybe weekends.

Yes, it is hard. Yes, there is a huge struggle. Yes, you will wake up barely able to breath from the stress—but you learn to let it go like the ice princess says. You learn to smile when it dawns on you, this is just the first chapter of living your dream!

Another work, I haven’t read yet except for snippets is Turning Pro: Tap your inner power and create your life’s work by Steven Pressfield.

Turning Pro: Tap Your Inner Power and Create Your Life's Work by Steven Pressfield

So, chase your passion, chase your dreams. Determine to NEVER give up. You’re just one more day away from success.
