Why Wouldn’t You Grab a Free Book?

Yes, this Ebook is Permanently Free, so, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t snatch it up. Doesn’t matter if you can’t read it now, you’d always have it downloaded and ready whenever you can make time.

By John Irvin

I’ve come to find there are two main series that I like to talk about when focused on my own published books.

Longevity is one series—though it is not yet complete. I’ve recently finished the fourth book’s first draft. After that, there are still four more books to go before that wonderful dark fantasy serial is finished.

The second series—the one in today’s limelight—is the Magic’s Time Split series. This serial is only in ebook format, unlike the previous series which is and will be in Hardcover, Paperback, and Ebook. But that doesn’t take away any of my second main serial’s illustriousness.

I enjoyed writing this ten-book collection as much as I’m enjoying writing the other one. You could say it has hints of dark fantasy, but it’s also an alternate timeline type of fiction and even starts with a good little time travel jump.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog and YouTube vlog, you would probably know that this serial is about a group of settlers who head back in time to the year 1815 and the place known as Hidden Lake in the Montana territory (which wasn’t even under US governance at the time and thus was not called by that name).

By the way, speaking of YouTube, here’s the video for today’s episode:

Anyways, back to the story, these travellers discover there’s an ulterior motive in the minds of two of the five leaders. This secret plot costs greatly, but also unleashes Magic on the world. This supernatural act kills Technology and starts a whole new timeline.

A timeline where Magic rules and Technology never advances.

But why would anyone want to do that? What would their ultimate reason be for such a gross act? Is it simply the powers they are endowed with by the shattered Egyptian idol of Thoth, the god of Magic and writing? Or is there something else?

The only way you’d be able to discover the why is to read the books.

But, guess what, this serial is special. How? I’ve set the first book to be Permanently FREE! Yes, you read that right. I know I’ve brought this up before, but I want to tell you again.

I published these ten books on Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Noble’s Nook. Nook allowed me to set it at $0.00 without my having to contact them. I then wrote Amazon and informed them they better match the price. They did. And now you can simply download your copy and try it out for free. You get to meet a gang of friends I made along the way and find out more goodies inside!

Returning after a Week of Randomness

Another book I’m reading for this month has a mystifying tale of fantastic intrigue you don’t want to miss out on

By John Irvin

Yes, I know, I missed last Saturday. Several things came out of nowhere and I was unable to produce the blog and YouTube episode. Now, today, I’m going to talk a little bit about Teardrop.

I’m only a few chapters into the book by Lauren Kate and already I’m caught up in a suspenseful tale. Why on earth are these sea people or whatever they are trying to kill Eureka?

I don’t want to hurt Lauren’s possible sales so I’m not going to give away any spoilers.

All I want to say, if you’re into Young Adult Fantasy with some great mystery, you’ll want to collect this book.

Eureka’s mother instilled a rule so deeply in her, it’s impossible to break it: never cry.

          Why?

Isn’t crying good for you? Letting all those pent-up emotions out?

And why is this tall and pale boy always wherever she goes? His name is Ander, by the way.

To stay safe from giving spoilers, you’ll want to read the partial description I’ve added below from Amazon’s page! Or, if you’d like, here’s the cover photo with the affiliate link to go ahead and buy it!

Here’s the description from Amazon:

“Everywhere Eureka goes he is there: Ander, a mysterious blond boy who tells her she’s in danger. Ander knows things about Eureka she doesn’t yet know herself, but not her darkest secret: ever since her mother drowned in a freak accident, Eureka wishes she were dead, too. She has little left that she cares about, just her friend Brooks and some heirlooms—a locket, a letter, a mysterious stone, and an ancient book about a girl who got her heart broken and cried an entire continent into the sea.

“But Ander has some secrets of his own. The haunting tale is more than a story. It’s real.
And Eureka’s life has far more evil undercurrents than she ever imagined.”

The Origin Tale of the Wolf-Born Saga

You’ve heard lots about Ihon (pronounced Ian) and his story from the Longevity series, but what of the origin of the Wolf-Born themselves?

By John Irvin

Ihon is not the only Wolf-Born, no, this is made clear within the first few chapters of Longevity, Book 1: Revelation. There is a whole secret Race from which he unknowingly sprung.

But what of the origin of that race? Where do these Beasts who walk and think like Humans come from? How did the first Wolf-Born learn to shape-shift? Or was it something more than just learning a skill?

What is the Wolf-Gift? How is it passed down in the very DNA?

Blood of the Father is a short ebook novella that relates the story of Tiras, the Father of the Wolf-Born Race, and how he was given the Gift and how he found the Mother of the Wolf-Born Race.

Here’s the YouTube episode, less than two minutes long!

Who is Tiras and when did he live on this planet? This goes back to ancient times. Tiras, according to history, was the seventh son of Japheth, one of the three famous sons of the legendary Noah.

This tale is set a few centuries into the life of Tiras—yes, back then, humans lived much longer than their present day counterparts. I mean, there wasn’t much pollution back then and they were closer to the perfect first humans than we are.

Anyways, before getting onto a scientific debate rabbit trail, Tiras is human, yes, you read that right. But I thought he was the Father of the Wolf-Born Race, you ask?

          Yes, yes he was.

So how does he become the primogenitor of a separate race from humankind?

          Read the book. *wink*

How does he find his life’s mate to create this new kind?

          Read the book *winks again*

          Here’s the link below.

But before I let you go, I want to share this thoughtful review:

“Review Rating:

4 Stars

Reviewed By K.J. Simmill for Readers’ Favorite

On the day Tiras buried his wife, everything changed. He mourned her passing, unaware his own transition was to follow. The Almighty had a plan; He would do something new. Attacked by a vicious wolf, Tiras thought his life was at an end, but as the pain and torment increased, the Almighty came to him, telling him he would sire a new race, one to protect man from the darkness to come. Adapting to his new life as wolf-born, and his new abilities, Tiras sets out to travel the world and learn what he can. He keeps to himself, knowing man has now lost its extended years. His path and travels are guided by God. To sire this new race he must first find his true mate, the woman with whom he could begin God’s work.

Blood of the Father is a dark fantasy creation story by John Irvin. This short story gives a new spin to the age-old werewolf and vampire creation mythos and presents it in the form of Tiras’ thirty-year journey. This Christian story puts God at the center and, as such, there is a Christian influence on the tale. The steady pace allows the reader to watch events unfold as Tiras begins to learn more about his gift and mission. Exploration, discovery, and faith drive the plot, which makes a good foundation for future tales as we learn of the battle of good versus evil to follow. This is a short but easy-flowing read which creates new origins for the ancient races.”

I really appreciated their thoughts!

Return to the World of Longevity

I’m reunited with my best friend, Ihon Iraes, and he’s just gone through the French and Indian War and is now entering the scene that sparks the American War for Independence.

By John Irvin

It’s already been another week and February has one more left. Where does the time seriously go?

I’m back to writing every morning in the first draft of Longevity, Book 4: Revolution. It’s been good returning to that world, although my brain is already wanting to move on to the next books—seriously, brain is already working on the plot for Book 5, Discovery!

But, as I’ve mentioned in the video, Ihon is playing a part in the beginning of the American War for Independence, here it is:

My favourite Wolf-Born is given the privilege of meeting heroes like Patrick Henry, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and so many more. I’m literally getting jealous of him … even though he’s basically a piece of me.

Last I left, he was at a meeting with a few Sons of Liberty after having just discovered a secret about John and Dolly Hancock’s true identities.

          Yes, more on that later.

Talking about time flying by, Ihon is no over 650 years old! It’s been a long time since his moment of tragedy and self-discovery in Book 1, Revelation.

If you have not read that book or ordered it yet, here’s the link below.

Then in Book 2, Independence, he plays a major role in the War for Scottish Independence. If you’ve been keeping up with my website blog and YouTube episodes, you’ll know this already. His best friend was the Guardian of Scotland, Sir William Wallace—known by many thanks to Mel Gibson in Braveheart.

Then that is followed up by the most recent publication: Book 3, Wandering. But that book, unlike its predecessors, has yet to come out in print. Yes, I’m sorry, but if you see any copies on Amazon or wherever, that are in hardcover do NOT order them. There was a mistake made by the formatter that has yet to be resolved.

It will soon come out in print though, don’t worry.

The World of Longevity.

If you’ve noticed, there’s an ebook novella called Blood of the Father. It’s a prequel origin story about the Father of the Wolf-Born Race, you might want to check it out.

In the future, there will be more novellas and novel trilogies in the world of Longevity, but from the point of view of various other characters.

I’m excited and I’m almost forgetting that I have a Beauty and the Beast novel to begin working on later hahaha.

I am back with more Updates, but not many

It’s been a little while, I know, but the break was needed after 90 straight days of blogging and vlogging!

By John Irvin

It’s already been over two weeks since the last episode of my 90-Day Author’s Assault. Time really flies. What have I been doing since then?

Oh, you know, living the dream. Struggling with finances like we all seem to be doing after last year, finding clients for my proofreading business, contemplating new goals and plans for this year and the next several years, and getting more reading and writing done!

Yes, I’ve been busy.

At the beginning of this year, Goodreads (an awesome site for avid readers to keep track of their book reading and share with friends and inspire each other to read) informed me that I read 31 books in the year of 2020.

I decided I wanted to basically double that number for this year. I’ve set my goal at 60. This means I have to literally read five books per month. So far, I’ve read eight books and I’ll be completing two more within the coming week.

I’m excited. I’ve been knocking my To-Be-Read pile down in number with this goal-setting, so that feels like an accomplishment.

I want to make sure to recommend one of the books on my reading list this month. Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry. This book will wake you up to the seriousness of our generation’s financial aspirations.

I’m definitely going to be applying these principles that he’s already covered…AND I’m not even halfway finished with the book.

Let me stop here and share the YouTube episode that coincides with this blog over on my channel.

Make sure you click through to watch and I’d appreciate it if you liked the video and subscribed to my channel.

Now, with the writing, I’ve returned to the world of my Longevity series. It’s been grand reuniting with Ihon Iraes (pronounced Ian Eraze) and his friends and loved ones. We’ve made it to Chapter 16 as of this morning and there will be 20 chapters in the book. This means we’re almost finished with the first draft.

Next will be the first draft for Book 5, Treason, and I’m anticipating that one. The next one after that, my brain is already formulating a plot idea and it’s kinda got a Beauty and the Beast theme to it. Shhhh don’t tell my Beauty and the Beast novel that I’m still planning to write later this year! It might get jealous.

Can I help it if having a character that can shape shift into a Wolf-Born being sort of has such a theme?

Anyways, besides that, my proofreading business has been going well and I’ve been privileged to connect with some fantastic and interesting people in our field of writing/editing/publishing. I’m really enjoying the work there!

If you watch the episode, you’ll see at the end that I’ve decided to move my posting from Thursdays to Saturdays. It just works out better with my schedule now. I hope that doesn’t bother anyone!

Can you believe we’ve made it to the Finale of this 90-Day Author’s Assault?

From my own published works to my friends’ books to my favorite reads, I’ve promoted and shared so many worlds with you—they’ve covered a variety of genres, such as: fantasy, sci-fi, romance, adventure, paranormal, and so many more!

By John Irvin

I’m going to bring up the last two series that were going neck and neck there at the end: Kate Daniels and Heroes of Olympus.

It is hard to believe I’ve promoted over ninety books with you, my viewers. So today, we’ll look back over the top three books you’ve click through.

Yes, my affiliate links allow me to check the analytics and I’ve seen which ones you looked at most. Sadly, I haven’t seen any books bought. That is truly disappointing to say the least.

There are so many treasures that I’ve shared with you and to see that they haven’t sold is to tell me I’ve failed in enlightening you on just how much worth each book has.

I’m thinking, either you’ve looked at the books I’ve promoted then opened a separate link on Amazon to order your copies so I wouldn’t get the commission fees. But, I’d like to think you’re not that mean.

So the most likely scenario—in my head—is, my desire for brevity out of respect for your daily schedule, actually harmed the usefulness of my blogs and YouTube episodes.

Maybe this is a lesson for the future. Don’t go for short videos or blogs, go for the longer ones.

It’s a learning game, I guess.

Now, back to the top three books YOU looked at most.

Chelsee’s Words, Poison, and Love – A book on poetry and healing oneself. I want you to grab your copy through the link above. Don’t miss out on the beautiful renditions my friend gave.

Robin Parrish’s Fearless from the Dominion Trilogy. I’ll provide these other two links for the first and third books as well. Relentless and Merciless are thrilling just like their middle volume in this sci-fi trilogy.

Before I continue, you should definitely click through the video below and watch my YouTube episode for this series finale!

Now, for the last of the top three books you checked out. It was my own! Shattered: The Complete Collection. A political drama about the possible future of the North American States.

Other mentions, I want to bring up my other two friends, Kathryn Blanche and Arabella Federico, who were amazing enough to take part in this little journey of mine and I had the privilege of spotlighting their authorship.

Here’s all three friends’ websites:

Chelsee: www.chelseebreannpoetry.com
Kathryn: www.kathrynblanche.com
Arabella: www.arabellakfederico.com

So with this finale, I’ll share the Book Tour fundraiser and the Patreon below.
