Will Kate Daniels Burn?

Atlanta is about to have some divine intervention, but can a lowly mercenary stave it off?

By John Irvin

Another fantastic and thrilling dark fantasy adventure with Kate Daniels, the best mercenary there is in Post-Shift Atlanta, Georgia.

Magic and Tech ebb and flow like ocean waves, taking back control then losing it then taking it back from each other.

This second installment was another awesome read that had me up late at night, turning those pages.

If you enjoyed the first book, you’re sure to enjoy this one!

MAGIC BURNS BY ILONA ANDREWS.

Goodreads lists this as the description, “As a mercenary who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels has seen her share of occupational hazards. Normally, waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow across Atlanta like a tide. But once every seven years, a flare comes, a time when magic runs rampant. Now Kate’s going to have to deal with problems on a much bigger scale: a divine one.

When Kate sets out to retrieve a set of stolen maps for the Pack, Atlanta’s paramilitary clan of shapeshifters, she quickly realizes much more at stake. During a flare, gods and goddesses can manifest – and battle for power. The stolen maps are only the opening gambit in an epic tug-of-war between two gods hoping for rebirth. And if Kate can’t stop the cataclysmic showdown, the city may not survive.”

Not Your Regular Boarding School Girl

The life-changing event in India, sends Gemma Doyle to a boarding school in England.

By John Irvin

I knew there was something special about Gemma Doyle, this fanciful young girl living in India with her mother.

But when the moment happens that turns her life for the worse it seems, every sign told me she had powers she didn’t know about.

With the boy stalking her, I wondered what that was about.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray.

“In this debut gothic novel mysterious visions, dark family secrets and a long-lost diary thrust Gemma and her classmates back into the horrors that followed her from India. (Ages 12+)

It’s 1895, and after the suicide of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma’s reception there is a chilly one. To make things worse, she’s been followed by a mysterious young Indian man, a man sent to watch her. But why? What is her destiny? And what will her entanglement with Spence’s most powerful girls—and their foray into the spiritual world—lead to?”

So, whatever you do today, make sure you grab this book: A Great and Terrible Beauty!

More Awesome Adventures and Additions from the Beauty and the Beast!

Another favorite read of mine from the lore of the classic fairy tale!

By John Irvin

This addition to the Disney folklore is a twisted tale of the plot behind the Beauty and the Beast. What if it was Belle’s mother who cursed the Beast?

As Old as Time: A Twisted Tale by Elizabeth J. Braswell.

This is one of those page-turners for me. I saw this book and thought, “Oo Beauty and the Beast, my favorite!” Then I started reading and…I was speechless. Was not expecting that plot twist!

I’m a sucker for all things Beauty and the Beast as I’ve said before. But, like humans do, I tend to tire of favorites and have to spend some time away before my passion for them can be rejuvenated. I think the major twist in this fairy tale kept it more interesting.

Smart, sassy, resourceful, and restless, Belle is always looking for a way of escape, but also longs to explore this strange enchanted land.

Belle’s mother isn’t dead—like in the original story—but went missing some time ago. Belle’s father wishes to remain at their cottage in case his beloved wife ever returns.

Belle barely remembers her mother.

There’s always been questions.

You’re going to have to answer these question by ordering a copy now of LOST IN A BOOK!

R. A. Salvatore is back with an awesome fury!

Having loved his DemonWars Saga of the First King, I knew my expectations wouldn’t be disappointed.

By John Irvin

A high fantasy: Child of a Mad God by RA Salvatore.

I must say, I’m a big fan of R. A. Salvatore. My goal is to collect more of his works, though my focus is on all things related to his world of Corona.

This dark epic fantasy adventure starts with Aoleyn, an orphan destined for great things.

In his Salvatore way, the author took me on a journey. I could literally feel the pace of the plot and felt so involved with the thoughts of the characters.

If you’re an epic fantasy fan, you need to add this book to your shelves! Watch the video below then grab your copy waiting for you through this link: Child of a Mad God.

This is the description from the Amazon page:

From New York Times bestselling author R. A. Salvatore, the legendary creator of Drizzt Do’Urden, comes Child of a Mad God, the first novel in the epic fantasy series, The Coven.

When Aoleyn loses her parents, she is left to fend for herself among a tribe of vicious barbarians. Bound by rigid traditions, she dreams of escaping to the world beyond her mountain home.

The only hope for achieving the kind of freedom she searches for is to learn how to wield the mysterious power used by the tribe’s coven known as the Song of Usgar. Thankfully, Aoleyn may be the strongest witch to have ever lived, but magic comes at price. Not only has her abilities caught the eye of the brutish warlord that leads the tribe, but the demon of the mountain hunts all who wield the Coven’s power, and Aoleyn’s talent has made her a beacon in the night.”

A Different Kind of Mermaid

The Syrena are an interesting aquatic society that have lived at the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years.

By John Irvin

A young adult romantic fantasy: Of Poseidon by Anna Banks.

I don’t know about you, but I love mermaids. When there’s a different and unique presentation of that awesome race, you know I’ll enjoy it…most likely!

When I came across Anna Banks’s Syrena Legacy, I had no idea what I was getting into. I was not disappointed, in fact, I was flipping pages!

Following along as the great mystery about the ancient origins of the Syrena was one of the most enjoyable times I had. I wish I could forget I read this and read it again.

You seriously do not want to miss out on this awesome story.

After watching the video below, click through and grab yourself a copy here: Of Poseidon.

This is the description from the Goodreads page:

“Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he’s heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma’s gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom…

Told from both Emma and Galen’s points of view, here is a fish-out-of-water story that sparkles with intrigue, humor, and waves of romance.”

Mytica is a realm being torn apart by gods and mortals

When you discover a world with the same name as a world you created many years ago.

By John Irvin

A young adult high fantasy: Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes.

Y’all, I picked this book off the shelf and started reading the summary. When I discovered the name of the world, Mytica, I had to read the book.

You see, back in high school, I wrote a short fiction about another dimension where there was this realm called Mytica…

          Weird, right?

Turns out, this place and that place are NOT the same places.

But, I loved this book and can’t wait to continue the rest of the series!

Watch the video below—you already know, I know—and click one of the links I’ve provided to buy your own copy of Falling Kingdoms!

There are three kingdoms in Mytica and they’re all under a fragile peace that’s been ruling for centuries. Magic has been forgotten, apparently.

There are four main characters: Cleo, Jonas, Lucia, and Magnus.

There are crazy plots and overwhelming betrayals, murders, hidden alliances, and love that you never saw coming.

With everything going on, you know there is only one certain outcome.

Kingdoms will collapse.

Join the princess, the sorceress, the rebel, and the heir as they embark on missions out of their leagues!

I you love high fantasy, make sure you grab a copy…Click this link to go buy: FALLING KINGDOMS.
